Jose Jimenez - Senior Consultant Spain
Jose is an Economist from the Complutensis University of Madrid with a strong technological
background. He started his career as financial auditor for Coopers & Lybrand Deloitte in the
UK and KPMG Peat Marwick in Spain, later joining the Spanish Coal Federation and starting
contacts with European institutions. He was appointed Secretary General for OCICARBON, an
OPET (Organisations for the Promotion of Energy Technologies) for the European Commission's
R&D THERMIE program, and became Head of the Cabinet to the former Consultative Committee of
the ECSC (European Coal and Steel Community) Treaty.
He then lived in Brussels and Luxembourg for more than 8 years joining different services of
the European Commission as an external consultant and expert. He has also been an evaluator for
different EC R&D Framework programs.
Jose's main consultancy activities include evaluation of R&D projects, commercialisation of
technologies and international trade. Jose is the Country Manager for Kinetic Cubed for Spain,
providing local support in Spain and in other global niche markets.
For more than four years, Jose has been the local consultant for Spain and Portugal of an
International Trade programme for the Welsh Assembly Government working with over 50 companies.
Welsh companies and institutions recognise Jose’s work and one of them has been awarded best
exporter of the year in Wales.
Jose is a keen skier and also an accomplished amatuer organist with memberships of the Member
of Cercle d’Orgue de Bruxelles and ex-member of the Wolluwe St Lambert Val d’Orgue and the
Royal College of Organists in London.
